Its the time
of the year when HTC announces its most-important smartphone, after its
flagship and its mini-version, the Butterfly. Its common for these phones to
borrow a lot from the on-going flagships and at times are even better, hence,
they are always looked forward to.
This year’s
J Butterfly kicks off things with a 5″ display with Full HD 1080p resolution.
It is made of plastic, as is common with these phones, but is waterproof this
time, a first for the series. You don’t get the terrific BoomSound speakers,
however.
Under the
hood, you get the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 internals, 2 GB RAM and 32 GB of
expandable storage.
The back is
interesting: You still get the two-camera set-up of the One M8, but rather with
a 13 megapixel sensor as the main camera, apart from the usual depth sensor. No
UltraPixels this time and we sense no one will be left unhappy. It is coupled
by a 5 megapixel front-camera.
The OS
running is Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6. Connectivity options include 4G
LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 and (possibly) NFC.
The phone is
currently available only in certain parts of the world but it should get a
wider release soon.
The last
Butterfly was actually priced higher than the One (M7) so expect this one to
give your wallet breathing space too.
