Nokia unveils new wireless technology


Nokia unveils its wireless technology, Bluetooth competitor. The Finnish brand unveils a new short-range wireless technology that, according to researchers at Nokia, is much more efficient in terms of energy of the Bluetooth and can be used in devices such as watches normal battery. The new technology, called Wibree uses a tenth the power of Bluetooth, according to a statement by Bob Iannucci, head of Nokia Research Center.
Nokia has been working for five years on the project and has now Wibree to start a process of standardization, in order to obtain a technology interoperable and can be marketed quickly, incorporating it in any kind of device. The radio chip Wibree can be used, for example, to connect with radio link up to ten meters, your phone with low-power devices such as sensors for sports, health monitors, watches and other devices that could not take advantage of the Bluetooth technology to its high energy demand.
